Throughout his career Ian has been a privileged witness and actor of the Compliance revolution of the early 2010’s as well as a player of great industrial histories for national champions like Airbus and Technip or Atos for which he delivered very large international transactions, them being either contracts or acquisitions.<br />

Ian Kayanakis has successfully transitioned careers from legal private practice to corporate inhouse counsel practice in very large corporation, to nowadays M&A practitioner. As a constant advocate of the versatility of lawyers, Ian always pushed lawyers of his ecosystem to think and act outside the box, in particular by serving as active board member of the largest in-house counsels professional association (AFJE) for 10 years until 2023. In this role at AFJE, Ian developed the entire finance and M&A for lawyers educational modules and is now honorary board member.
Bio
Following a postgraduate degree in European business law at Paris XI Law Faculty and completion of the international law program at the Hague Academy of International Law, Ian Kayanakis successfully passed the Paris Bar exam in 1996 and first worked as a Paris Bar attorney at law at Lazareff & Associés.<br />

In 2001, he joined the EADS group, now Airbus, where he was in charge of legal affairs in France within the Defense Division of EADS. He joined Technip in 2008 to create the position of M&A and Restructuring Legal Director while completing INSEAD executive education in Finance. Then, after 2 years as Regional Legal Director within the Atos Group, Ian Kayanakis joined in June 2017 a major family-owned Group specialized in industrial engineering as General Counsel & Compliance Office and subsequently Group M&A Director.<br />

Ian is now Managing Partner, General Counsel and Head of M&A of Enomyc in Paris, a German based corporate finance advisory firm.<br />
<br />
Since 2016, Ian is teaching international contract law and compliance to non-lawyers as well as Finance for M&A for lawyers at EDHEC and puts his professional experience and real-life feedback at the core of his teaching, for lively and dynamic teaching sessions for MSc and LLM students.<br />
