Management and Humanities

Welcome to the pages of the “Management & Humanities” department. For any organisation, strong leadership and optimised teamwork are essential to achieve outstanding performance in an increasingly competitive and volatile global environment. Leadership and interpersonal skills create synergies, enable complex problem solving and innovative decision making, and facilitate strategic organisational processes.

« Understanding the world around us, both society and business, seems essential to us. The research, analyses and tools proposed by our professors aim to equip each and every one of us to disseminate a culture of responsible, collaborative and mobilising leadership. »

Inge De Clippeleer, Head of Department, Associate Professor

PROFESSORS

Our Professors publish in leading international journals and are involved in all of the school's training programmes.

TEACHING

The courses offered by the Management & Humanities department are of two kinds. On the one hand, we give students a broad overview of society by offering courses such as geopolitics, contemporary societal issues, anthropology and culture, corporate social responsibility and business ethics. On the other hand, we equip them with the skills and abilities to lead, motivate and collaborate in a competitive and diverse world. This includes not only courses on organisational behaviour, leadership and human resource management, but also more practical courses on self-management and teamwork. In each case, theoretical frameworks and research findings are combined with more applied didactic tools, which stimulate students to learn and implement simultaneously.

Our two chairs - one focused on reflective leadership, the other on diversity and inclusion - allow us to work closely with companies and to draw on their experiences and build specific pedagogical cases.

RESEARCH

We are proud to present our research, published in leading academic journals such as Organization Science, Organization Studies, Academy of Management Journal and Journal of Applied Psychology.

Accessible to all, our research is also shared with our students, to help them become more accomplished professionals and stay on top of the latest knowledge in leadership, organisational behaviour, human resource management and corporate social responsibility.
