What was your undergraduate major before attending EDHEC?

I studied English literature at Shanghai International Studies University for my bachelor’s.

Can you briefly talk about why you chose to join EDHEC and choose the master's programme you are currently studying?

I chose EDHEC because both the business school and the programme I am in have high ratings from international authorities such as QS and the Financial Times. I think EDHEC cannot only give me solid professional training, but also put me in contact with precious resources such as industry experts, practical projects, and excellent alumni associations.

When doing school information comparison, I learned that EDHEC has the world's No. 1 career service with its Career Booster. This can help me deal with the challenges of landing a job and improve my abilities in all aspects. For me, this is very practical.

I decided to join the MSc in Marketing Management because of my own career planning: the one-year programme reduces the time cost, and there are also professional researchers and business elites in the faculty to help me grow into a business mindset.

How did you learn about the EDHEC Future Chinese Alumni Impact Scholarship?

After getting the offer, Ms. Cai Yuting held an online seminar, and I learned about the newly launched EDHEC Future Chinese Alumni Influence Scholarship and French Learning Scholarship in 2022.

Is the process of applying for this scholarship complicated?

It is not complicated. I just sent an email to Ms. Cai and express my desire to apply for the EDHEC Chinese Alumni Influencer Scholarship and then I received a link for the Kira test. There were four or five interview questions and two short English essays to write. After doing the test, I waited for about two weeks and got the results.

How has this scholarship helped you?

First, the scholarship reduced my tuition by 50%, saved my parents a lot of money on necessary expenses, and lightened my psychological burden.

Secondly, I have more freedom of financial control, I can travel, participate in various cultural activities, and meet more international friends… enriching my studying abroad experience.

What are the teaching method and content of your master's programme?

The MSc in Marketing Management is a popular programme at EDHEC. In the first semester, we were exposed to basic marketing knowledge. For the second semester, we can choose between two concentrations: luxury and fashion or entertainment and services. This programme is based on management skills, and the curriculum involves a lot of data analysis. For example, we have a course called "Marketing Intelligence", which teaches the ability to integrate and analyse information quantitatively and qualitatively.

Our courses not only contain advanced theoretical knowledge, but also exposed students to real business projects through close collaboration with global companies. For example, in the "Product and Development" course, the school cooperates with L'Oréal Group to provide real projects that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge more flexibly in practice.

Our course formats vary. Some will require an on-site case analysis, and then a report; some involve a lot of theoretical knowledge, which requires a lot of work after class.

Have you met students from different countries through classroom interaction and orientation activities?

I have met many students from different countries. EDHEC is a very international school with creative students from all around the world. In the first week, the school organised many orientation activities, and I met students from France, the United States, India, Spain, Malaysia, Mexico, and other countries. These students are very adaptable and energetic. I can learn very useful social skills from them.

What are your plans for the future?

I hope to work in the FMCG industry in China to grasp some basic working skills and deep industry insights as a knowledge reserve. Then I will think about transferring to other countries to do more superior work.

What advice do you have for students who want to apply to your major?

EDHEC’s Marketing Management is a very interesting programme. It brings together talents with creativity and ideas from all over the world. If you like to communicate and always have new ideas, then apply!
