EDHEC Business School is delighted to announce that it is now accepting applications for its sought-after Leisure & Lifestyle summer course on the French Riviera.

Europe’s citizens now have more vacation days than the world average and many of its consumers can choose to forego wages in favour of leisure and lifestyle pursuits. Free time and affluence provide numerous opportunities to create products and services that meet the demand for activities that enhance leisure time and quality of life.

In a three-week intensive course from 17 June to 5 July 2019 on EDHEC’s Nice campus, participants will analyse the leisure and lifestyle economy of the South of France and familiarise themselves with one of the biggest growth markets of the 21st century. Students will receive first-hand insights into the industry through company visits and complete a research project on potential topics including music events, sensation sports, or cultural and business tourism.

The summer programme, which earns academic credits, is a complementary fit for business and economics majors and a useful add-on to concentrations in tourism, services, and the creative industries. It will examine a number of mainstream players in the leisure economy, using models based in Nice, Cannes, and Monaco as live case studies.

The course will also explore leisure from a macroeconomic perspective, providing a comparative framework for leisure and lifestyle growth markets in France and across Europe. It will examine the general economic outlook for and recessionary response of leisure markets since the turn of the millennium, drawing on lifestyle innovation, ecotourism, and work-life balance trends. Participants will also learn about consumer analysis and market strategies for leisure and lifestyle, taking a panoramic view of consumer-culture analysis, information gathering and emerging consumer socio-styles.
