Our contribution

Within TWIN-X, the Management in Innovative Health Chair draws on its expertise in the social sciences and innovation management to embed human, social and organisational considerations into the development of digital twins.

Its research focuses in particular on the social determinants of health, equity and bias, as well as the conditions required to build trust in AI and support its adoption by healthcare professionals. The Chair assesses how social, economic and cultural factors may influence both the models themselves and the way they are used, helping to foster more equitable AI that reflects the diversity of patient populations.

EDHEC also contributes to research on interactions between healthcare professionals and AI, examining how users understand the explanations generated by the models, the cognitive load involved and the ways in which these tools may influence clinical decision-making. This approach draws notably on the principles of value-based healthcare to assess the value created for patients and healthcare systems.

Finally, the Chair supports a co-design and participatory governance approach involving patients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, ensuring that the solutions developed reflect real-world needs and meet the conditions required for their future adoption.

Through this contribution, EDHEC supports one of TWIN-X’s core objectives: to develop AI that is not only effective and explainable, but also trustworthy, equitable and designed for integration into healthcare practice.
