About the Workshop: Shaping the Future of AI in Oncology Together
On 5 October 2026, the Management in Innovative Health Chair at EDHEC Business School, in partnership with Unicancer and the French League Against Cancer (La Ligue contre le cancer), and with the support of Ethik-IA and IRCAD France, brought together experts from clinical practice, research, healthcare management, public institutions and industry for the AI in Oncology by 2030 Strategy Lab, held at EDHEC's Paris campus.
The event examined the conditions required to move artificial intelligence in oncology beyond isolated pilot initiatives towards safe, sustainable and scalable implementation across European healthcare systems.
Discussions highlighted that the effective integration of AI cannot be addressed through technological performance alone. It also requires consideration of regulatory frameworks, organisational readiness, clinical value, professional practices and the allocation of responsibilities among healthcare stakeholders.
Combining expert-led strategic foresight workshops with a multidisciplinary roundtable, the Strategy Lab provided an opportunity to examine competing priorities, identify implementation barriers and explore potential pathways for the European oncology ecosystem.
The perspectives and recommendations developed throughout the day will inform a forthcoming white paper outlining strategic priorities and operational considerations for the responsible deployment of AI in European cancer care.

Bringing together perspectives from the workshops and closing roundtable, the publication will seek to identify actionable priorities for healthcare institutions, policymakers, researchers and industry stakeholders.
