How the EDHEC Executive MBA turns learning into real business impact

The EDHEC Executive MBA is designed for experienced professionals who continue to lead while they learn. Through applied coursework, peer exchange, Transform360 and the Consulting Project or Business Plan, participants connect strategic frameworks with the real decisions they face in their organisations.

For many Executive MBA participants, the value of the programme lies equally in what happens between classroom sessions.

New ideas are tested at work. Strategic frameworks are applied to current challenges. Leadership insights are taken back into teams, boardrooms and organisations. This is central to the design of the EDHEC Executive MBA.

Delivered part-time in Paris over 17-20 months, the programme allows participants to continue working while developing the strategic, financial and leadership perspective required to navigate complexity. Its structure combines core business disciplines, Transform360, two Global Business Trips, personalised tracks and a Consulting Project or Business Plan.

The result is a learning experience designed to move quickly from reflection to action.

Three alumni stories are sypical of the possibilities at hand.

Applying Executive MBA learning directly at work

The EDHEC Executive MBA is built around the decisions leaders face today: navigating uncertainty, aligning organisations, strengthening performance and creating value. Participants work across strategic, financial, organisational and leadership topics, while applying their learning to current business priorities.

Clémentine Venck, Group Managing Director of Cocottes & Co, found that this immediate application became one of the most valuable aspects of the programme.

“The impact was immediate and very practical. In most courses, I used to write notes in the margin: ‘Could this work at Cocottes?’ Back in Luxembourg, I would test, adjust, and observe the results. The programme became a live laboratory rather than a theoretical exercise.”

Her experience reflects one of the programme’s core strengths: participants remain active in their roles while developing as leaders. The part-time format gives them regular space to step back from daily operations, while keeping their learning closely connected to the business realities they manage every day.

Turning business challenges into strategic action

A central theme of the EDHEC Executive MBA is the ability to move from strategic vision to execution. Participants develop a broader view of the organisation, connecting strategy, finance, operations, markets, people and performance.

That applied logic also runs through the Consulting Project or Business Plan. Developed towards the end of the programme, it enables participants to translate their learning into an actionable recommendation aligned with a real business challenge or opportunity.

For Alexandre Nilsvang, Global Procurement Category Manager at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, the Consulting Project focused on circular business models across Siemens’ commodity categories. The work produced a roadmap that included a maturity assessment, prioritisation model and recommendations around supplier engagement, take-back programmes and refurbishment pathways.

“The EMBA was really practical and actionable from day one,” he says.

The project helped him address a strategic sustainability priority within his organisation, while also strengthening his visibility internally. In this sense, the Consulting Project gives participants a structured way to examine a live issue, engage stakeholders and formulate recommendations with potential organisational value.

Building strategic confidence as a senior leader

The applied nature of the programme also helps participants broaden the way they make decisions. Many join the EMBA with deep functional or technical expertise. The programme helps them connect that experience with wider strategic, financial and organisational perspectives.

Tuyen Pham, CEO of THX and EDHEC Executive MBA alumnus, experienced this shortly after graduation.

“Every lesson from the EMBA has proved useful for handling this Californian company. For instance, building a diagnostic of the company to propose a new strategy to the board in less than a month was challenging, and the methods learned during the EMBA were efficient for that.”

His example shows how the programme can help experienced professionals move beyond instinct or accumulated experience alone. They gain frameworks, language and perspective that help them structure decisions under pressure.

The programme’s applied dimension extends beyond strategy and finance. Through Transform360, participants work on self-leadership, collaborative leadership, influence, resilience and personal presence. The aim is to support both professional performance and personal leadership development.

For Tuyen, this reflective dimension was one of the most significant aspects of the experience.

“The knowledge of myself was the most eye-opening thing during the EMBA. The hard subjects like finance or strategies are, of course, relevant. But the real step up happens when you search deep inside yourself to understand why you do certain things and how you can improve.”

Creating business value in class: impact during the Executive MBA

The EDHEC Executive MBA is designed for professionals who want to keep building their careers while contributing to the organisations they already serve. For organisations, the impact of the EMBA can begin before graduation. Participants bring back new frameworks, sharper analysis, broader perspectives and more structured approaches to transformation.

For participants, the programme offers a way to strengthen their leadership while remaining anchored in real business challenges. They develop the confidence to lead change, the strategic perspective to make better decisions and the practical tools to turn learning into organisational value.
