In mid-November, four Global MBA participants were accepted to attend the Top Women Summit, in Brussels, Belgium. The annual event welcomes high achieving female graduates and professionals with over 10 years of experience from institutions and firms all over Europe. It was a great opportunity to meet recruiters from 14 companies in the energy, technology, and consulting sectors. The conference also included panel discussions about women in business, and time to network with professionals in a small forum.
Shufei Wan, who is from China and has a background in engineering and marketing, said that the best part was how international the outlook was. “Recruiters didn’t care so much where you were from,” she said. Because of the intimate setting, she was able to really get to know the companies she is interested in better, get contacts from human resources at those companies, and network with them.
Zahra Ould-Hamouda, a mechanical engineer from Canada, said that her reason for attending the conference was to gain knowledge about the European job market in the energy sector. “I really enjoyed talking to the recruiters, as the majority were engineers like myself, so it was good chat with my European counterparts. I even managed to make some contacts, so I would say I definitely achieved my mission statement for the weekend,” she said.
