In 2023, EDHEC Business School set up the GENERATIONS powered by EDHEC seed fund, with the aim of providing funding for the emergence of impact start-ups, right from their launch phase. This approach is underpinned by the School’s investments and its alumni community. For the purposes of this initiative, EDHEC joined forces with Ring Capital, an impact investment ecosystem. GENERATIONS not only caters for EDHEC alumni, but also for entrepreneurs with projects that respond to current social and environmental challenges. Constantin Wolfrom (EDHEC 2015) is the first EDHEC alumni to have enjoyed support from the fund. Nepsis Energy, the company he co-founded and which he has managed since 2023, received €250,000 of investment. It runs a photovoltaic project financing platform for companies. In this interview, Constantin Wolfrom discusses the launch of this start-up, his journey as an entrepreneur and his links with EDHEC.

Where did your interest in entrepreneurship come from? How did your background at EDHEC feed or trigger this vocation?

I see entrepreneurship as an adventure: it’s a dive into the unknown. Each day is different and unpredictable, and certain people you meet can change the trajectory you initially set out.

My first entrepreneurial projects date from my years at EDHEC. As a student on the MSc in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, I created my first start-up, Pumpkin (a mobile payment solution), with another student on the programme, Hugo Sallé de Chou. And at the same time, I took part in a regatta project with the EDHEC sailing club, the student association I belonged to. At EDHEC, you’re constantly encouraged to take initiatives, and to repeat, whatever your projects.

You founded Nepsis Energy in 2025. What drove you to create this start-up?

Nepsis Energy specialises in leasing solar panels to professionals. It’s my third entrepreneurial adventure. My aim is to develop a project that responds to an environmental issue while also incorporating a business aspect. This twin dimension naturally steered me to the energy sector.

What kind of impact mission are you pursuing?

Reducing companies’ carbon footprints. By financing energy transition for French companies, Nepsis enables them to decarbonise part of their business, and save money at the same time. Our goal is to become the European leader in financing companies’ energy transition projects.

Why did you apply for support from the GENERATIONS fund? In what way is this seed fund launched by your School and Ring Capital aligned with your values?

Joining the GENERATIONS fund not only enabled me to raise an initial €250,000 of funding, but also to enter relations with EDHEC alumni, a network of professionals with a wide range of expertise. I’d like to work with this community to expand Nepsis. Another factor is that the fund’s philosophy resonates with that of a start-up, by combining economic returns with reductions in carbon emissions.

You graduated from EDHEC in 2015. What links do you maintain with the School and its alumni network today?

They’re links of loyalty with EDHEC. The professors and the incubator teams supported me in my journey as an entrepreneur. They notably helped me find my first offices – in the EuraTechnologies start-up incubator in Lille – and encouraged me to take part in competitions to help me secure funding and raise the project’s profile.

And from a personal standpoint, I forged solid friendships during my studies that are still intact today.
