Sofiane Zerouali, diplômé EDHEC International BBA

Sofiane Zerouali graduated from the EDHEC International BBA programme in 2022 and decided to pursue his studies in the Master of Science programme at EDHEC Business School. In this interview, he explains how he came to specialise in Marketing.

What specialisation did you choose in the 3rd year?

In the third year of my BBA, I opted for the International Business track specialisation, with a minor in Marketing. I really wanted to get back to a cosmopolitan environment, as I was lucky enough to have attended the Lycée Français in Singapore during my high school years, and with this specialisation I had the opportunity to work with students from all over the world in English. It also had a fairly hybrid approach to the courses, with a more general ‘business’ side and a more in-depth approach to marketing in courses such as Strategic Management and Brand Communication.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the internships you did as a BBA student?

During my BBA I was lucky enough to do two six-month internships, the first in the Marketing Department of PSA Peugeot Citroën and the second with the L'Oréal group in the Netherlands. During these two internships, I was able to work on aspects of marketing such as implementing new strategies, launching new products, and creating digital tools to enhance the customer experience. What was really interesting was creating a parallel between the knowledge acquired in the classroom and the realities on the ground, in other words, the challenges companies face today when launching a new product, creating a brand image and, above all, interacting with customers.

Why did you decide to opt for a Master of Science at EDHEC Business School?
After my BBA, I wanted to focus more on marketing and to extend my knowledge in this field, so I decided to do the MSc in Marketing Management at EDHEC Business School. I also wanted to go back to a very international dimension with an opportunity to work with students from different backgrounds: Bachelor students, Grande Ecole students and international students. For all these reasons, the MSc in Marketing Management seemed the obvious choice.

How does EDHEC support you in your career plan?
At EDHEC, we're fortunate to be very well supported throughout the programme - especially by the Career Centre. Right from the start of the school year, we have several interview opportunities, with many options already open to us. Now I'll have to decide and work on my career plan, but I've already been approached several times, notably by my former employers, such as L'Oréal group and Stellantis (Peugeot PSA Citroën), which makes me very optimistic for the future!
