The EDHEC Global MBA CareerSMART programme, ranked N°1 in France for several years in the Economist MBA Ranking, offers not only personalized career coaching and support, but also a wide range of events connecting corporates and MBA participants, allowing them to delve into the hottest new topics impacting the business world and discover exciting career options in the new economy.

Currently, EDHEC’s Global MBA participants are taking a deep-dive into subjects ranging from business intelligence, big-data and machine learning to data-driven sales, networks and operations.  Over the past two months, participants have interacted with managers from iconic firms like Google, Amazon, Salesforce, Facebook, Oracle and Amadeus.  These events give participants insight into the rapidly changing business landscape and inspire them for careers in high-growth, high-potential global firms which are shaping the economy of the future.

Silicon Valley Academy – Getting in and Succeeding in Top Tech Firms

February 11th – EDHEC alumni from the top technology firms created the Silicon Valley Academy – a network aimed at helping fellow classmates get in and succeed in top tech firms.
They brought perspectives from Facebook Madrid, Salesforce Singapore, Google &Salesforce Ireland and Oracle France and focused on business-oriented roles in sales, customer service, marketing and strategic projects. They explained the lengthy and competitive selection processes, the importance of analytical ability, creative thinking and customer focus. The alumni shared their stories and answered questions and were on hand for one on one discussions with MBA participants during the cocktail and at speed-meetings the following day.

Amazon MBA Pathways Operations Program Presentation and Networking

February 24th - The numbers are staggering – whether it is the 30% growth, the 3000 employees who run the largest fulfillment center in the region, or the hundreds of million items shipped– Amazon is the global reference in innovative operations. It takes a special team to handle this kind of operation, and a solid manager who balances leadership and decision-making skills, Amazon principles and a sharp, analytical mind. General Manager Ron Boles and Pathways Recruiter Nicolas Rodrigues shared their secrets with the class, encouraging participants to apply for Pathways roles and internships throughout Europe.

Google Research and University Partnerships for Machine Learning, Presentation and Consulting Project Briefing

March 7th - Michel Benard, Google’s  University Relations Manager, visited EDHEC campus to present Google, give a brief talk on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He then pitched this year’s MBA Consulting Project which is related to these fields. This is the fourth project sponsored by Google. It will provide an outstanding learning experience for a team of five participants over two months this May. The team will collaborate closely with Google to deliver fresh new ideas and useful recommendations on the subject as part of their MBA Program.

 Amadeus Careers and Big Data Trek

March 15th - MBA participants travelled to Amadeus’ new office park in Villeneuve-Loubet to learn about the opportunities and challenges that Big Data brings to this global leader in travel IT solutions. Amadeus processes 1.6 billion data requests per day, and while the travel business was an early adopter of data analytics for business decisions on pricing, the current volume, velocity and variety of data has massively changed the game. Senior R&D, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Managers shared an overview of Big Data from a management perspective and explained business analytics and machine learning. A highly interactive workshop on Business Analytics had participants using Tableau to create informative visualizations using real travel data. The HR Department wrapped up by showing how to access management positions and internships across 195 countries. The afternoon closed with a networking cocktail where participants continued the conversation with managers and alumni working at Amadeus in Nice.

Business Innovation, Economic Development and Entrepreneurship on the Riviera

March 31st – In a partnership with the Nice regional economic development authorities, CareerSMART is partnering with the MBA Entrepreneurship Club for a presentation of business innovation, economic development and entrepreneurship in the Nice region. The event highlight will be a panel of successful start-ups. Increasingly, MBAs are attracted to startups and SMEs, so this event is designed to inspire the entrepreneurs in the class. The panel is followed by networking opportunities with these members of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem – one of the most dynamic in France.
