A GRASFI PhD workshop in sustainable finance organized by EDHEC, Université Paris-Dauphine, HEC Liège and Maastricht University took place in-person on the EDHEC Paris Campus on 2-3 April 2024.
The workshop organized three tracks: early-stage ideas (track 1), intermediate work (track 2) and job market papers (track 3). PhDs applying for track 1 were expected to submit a long abstract, while for tracks 2 and 3, PhDs were expected to submit a full paper.
Paper presentations and discussions by PhD candidates were held along with sessions addressing PhD-related topics. Organizers allocated time for participants i) to pitch their research and connect with researchers from GRASFI member universities, ii) to exchange ideas on future activities that GRASFI could organize to support PhD researchers from member universities.
Selected papers, both early stage or more advanced theoretical and empirical research work on Sustainable Finance including, but not limited to Climate Finance, Asset Pricing, Impact Investing, ESG Investing, Corporate Governance and Non-Financial Reporting were showcased during the workshop.
The Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment (GRASFI), was founded in 2017 by a network of global research universities in order to promote rigorous and highly impactful academic research on sustainable finance and investment. EDHEC Business School joined the alliance in June 2020.
A couple of years ago, EDHEC Business School launched an ambitious strategic plan – “Impact Future Generations” – which clearly focuses the School’s ambition and resources on the positive transformation that can be achieved through business and the economy, all with a view to helping create a better world for future generations. EDHEC Business School continues commitment to advancing research in the field of sustainable finance, particularly through the team of researchers of EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute whose mission is to help private and public decision makers manage climate-related financial risks and make the best use of financial tools to support the transition to low-emissions and climate-resilient economies.
Since 2008, EDHEC has been offering a PhD in Finance programme (executive and residential tracks). More information on PhD theses and participants profile can be found here.
