Martin Wetzels, winner of the 2023 “Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award” (SERVSIG)
Mid-June, Martin Wetzels, EDHEC Professor, has been awarded by AMA SERVSIG the 2023 Career Contributions award, created in 1994 and renamed in 2009, in memory of Professor Christopher Lovelock.
SERVSIG, a multi layered acronym which stands for the American Marketing Association Service Special Interest Group founded in 1993, aims at “fostering a dialogue and expanding knowledge on services issues among academics, managers, consumers, and government representatives”.
It offers resources, sponsors panels and sessions at numerous events, organizes its own annual consortium, and gives each year five awards, to distinguish a diversity of profiles, from the most junior to the most senior. The Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award is awarded to researchers who are presenting “significant, frequent and recent contributions to the services discipline”, in a long duration approach, i.e between 20 to 40 years.
In 2023, the award committee consisting of Lerzan Aksoy (Chair), Bård Tronvoll, Christo Boshoff and Cheryl Burke Jarvis has selected Martin Wetzels, EDHEC Professor, and a world-class scholar in Marketing – he is included in the 2% top scientists worldwide by citation impact - especially in the service domain.
“I would like to thank the service community and especially SERVSIG for bestowing this incredible honor on me. Having worked in the service domain for nearly 30 years and having experienced the kindness and generosity of the service community, I feel both humbled and honored by receiving this extraordinary award. I am also extremely grateful to EDHEC Business School for the support and trust they have provided to me.”

This prestigious recognition of his career contributions to the service discipline is very much deserved.
