About Programme Choice

What was your undergraduate major before joining EDHEC?

I studied Business English as an undergraduate. During my classes, I found case studies particularly interesting, as they allowed me to observe how marketing strategies impact consumers through real-world examples. This sparked my strong interest in the field of business.

Why did you choose your current master's programme?

I previously lacked substantial work experience and internships, and the second year of the Master in Management programme allows students to participate in internships. This setup is very beneficial for enhancing my career competitiveness.

Additionally, by completing the test on the EDHEC website and answering questions based on my personal situation, I found that this programme suited me well.

About Student Experience

What are the teaching methods and content of your master's programme like?

The teaching emphasizes practical experience. The professors prefer not to explain too much theoretical knowledge initially. Instead, they encourage us to try practical operations first and then delve deeper into the theory when we encounter problems or cannot complete tasks.

For instance, the corporate finance course consists of the first hour introducing theories and formulas, followed by two hours of exercise training, allowing us to look up information online, discuss with classmates, and consult the professor. I particularly enjoy this format because it allows me to immediately apply what I've learned, making the knowledge more memorable.

I especially like the strategic management course because it taught me how to analyse a company's internal and external environment and formulate effective strategies to gain a competitive advantage.

Additionally, I really appreciate my financial statement analysis professor, Henry Haley. He simplifies complex concepts and illustrates them with vivid examples. His passion for the subject has greatly benefited me, and even if I don't work in this field in the future, his enthusiasm has been contagious.

Have you met students from different countries through classroom interactions and orientation activities?

I've met many classmates from different countries. As long as you have an open and inclusive mindset when making new friends, it's easy to get along with classmates, regardless of their country of origin.

Was it easy to adapt to life and study when you first arrived in France?

I found the adaptation process relatively smooth, thanks to the international student office at the school, which provided a lot of assistance. When I encountered issues (such as opening a bank account, getting a transit card, or purchasing health insurance), I only needed to send an email inquiry, and they usually responded quickly. I also attended several seminars on how to apply for student housing assistance (CAF).

The campus is equipped with a cafeteria, ATMs, and automatic coffee machines, which are very convenient. Although it's far from the city centre, it's easy to travel there on weekends. In my spare time, I enjoy photography and often go out with friends to take pictures or explore new coffee shops. The pace of life is slower here, with many shops closed on Sundays as everyone rests. Initially, I found the administrative efficiency hard to adjust to, but over time, I got used to it and found it acceptable to slow down.

About Gains and Advice

What changes have you noticed in yourself after joining the programme?

Through an in-depth understanding of digital transformation and market analysis, I've developed a strong interest in data analysis. I discovered that I particularly enjoy using these techniques to continuously improve customer experiences.

This process has not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds and fields, helping me appreciate the importance of diverse thinking and teamwork.

Moreover, my mindset has undergone a profound change. When faced with challenges and uncertainties in life or academics, I've learned to stay calm, think flexibly, and actively seek solutions.

What advice do you have for students who want to apply to your programme?

I recommend thoroughly understanding the programme structure and related courses. Clearly express what you hope to gain from the program in your motivation letter.

Additionally, consider obtaining some online certificates (such as Google Analytics, Inside LVMH, HubSpot, etc.) to enrich your background.
