Times Higher Education World University Rankings: EDHEC ranked among the world’s top 200 institutions for climate action
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026 places EDHEC among the world’s top 200 institutions for its performance in climate action. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities worldwide each year to measure their performance across three main areas: research, impact and teaching. The ranking evaluates factors such as the learning environment, research environment, research quality, knowledge transfer and international outlook. This recognition from the British publication gives EDHEC international acknowledgement for its commitment to sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
International recognition
EDHEC performed particularly strongly in three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covered by the rankings.
EDHEC ranks among the world’s top 200 institutions for SDG 13 – Climate Action. Times Higher Education recognises the quality of the research produced by EDHEC’s professors and researchers in climate finance, which contributes to a deeper understanding of climate-related challenges and supports the transition towards a more sustainable economy.
Climate finance lies at the heart of EDHEC’s teaching and research activities. In late June 2026, the School announced the launch of Sovereign Climate Risk Ratings, a new scientific standard designed to assess the macroeconomic impact of rising temperatures on sovereign economies. Led by Scientific Climate Ratings, this initiative reflects EDHEC’s ambition to make finance research an operational lever for markets, financial institutions and policymakers, following in the footsteps of the School’s spin-offs such as Scientific Beta, Scientific Infra & Private Assets, and Scientific Portfolio. Through the EDHEC Climate Institute, which develops scientific and methodological frameworks, and Scientific Climate Ratings, which translates them into market-ready rating tools, the School contributes to integrating climate risk into financial, prudential and investment models. This ecosystem strongly supports EDHEC’s performance in SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, which measures an institution’s contribution to innovation, applied research and partnerships with the wider socio-economic environment.
Finally, EDHEC also stands out in SDG 4 – Quality Education. This goal assesses an institution’s ability to provide inclusive, equitable and high-quality education while promoting lifelong learning. It recognises both EDHEC’s Executive Education programmes and initiatives such as Talents Prépa, Cordées de la Réussite, and EDHEC Talents. These three programmes support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in their academic orientation and success, helping to promote equal opportunities and combat self-censorship.
By measuring universities’ societal impact beyond traditional research and teaching criteria, these rankings provide global recognition of EDHEC’s positive contribution to society.
