Four MBA students are currently in the race for the prestigious Hult Prize. The Hult Prize Foundation is a start-up accelerator for budding young social entrepreneurs emerging from the world’s universities. Winners receive USD1 Million in seed capital, as well as mentorship and advice from the international business community. Each year, more than 10.000 students over the world take part in this competition in order to realize their dreams...

Preeti, Damaris, Marco and Mathew (MBA 2016) were selected over 25.000 applications for the Regional Final in London. They have now the opportunity to spend the summer at the Hult Prize Accelerator - an innovative incubator for social enterprise. The team will attend the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in late September, 2016. President Bill Clinton will host the Hult Prize Global Finals where regional champions will pitch their start-ups in-front of a world-class audience, including Muhammad Yunus, who along with other notable global leaders will select and award the winning team the Hult Prize, along with USD1 million in start-up capital.

Our team would be delighted to take advantage of the network expertise to make this adventure a 100% EDHEC project! If you want to know more about this adventure, discover the motivations and the ambitions of our four students:

"One Italian, one Mexican, one Indian and one American living in France thisis our team. We are four energetic, creative and passionate MBA candidates ready to take on one of the world’s biggest challenges. Each of us deeply care about the world and truly believe we can make it a better place. We are seasoned business professionals who aspire to work in the intersection between business and development. With that motivation, we have founded the Social Business MBA chapter at EDHEC Business School and constantly seek opportunities to apply our business knowledge to meaningful causes. Driven by dedication, discipline and hard work, nothing can defeat our entrepreneurial spirit.

Why do we want take on this challenge? We recently completed a study trip in South Africa which reminded us of the importance of innovation and sustainability. Our collective experience is grounded in the realities of developing countries and past work with social entrepreneurs. We are constantly inspired by the work of social entrepreneurs and this trip was no exception. During our visit we met with entrepreneurs in the township of Khayelitsha and learned about how they are transforming their community with their innovative businesses. We want to apply our business skills to solve key development challenges and improve lives, and believe we have the drive and skills to do so.

Together we form a wellrounded team of professionals capable of sustaining a startup that can change the world. Some of our team members bring a wealth of knowledge in building a business from the ground up running a startup is not easy, but we have firsthand experience in doing so successfully. We are ready to apply the new skills focused in leadership, finance and entrepreneurship we’ve acquired in the EDHEC MBA and also the knowledge we bring from our past experience in various industries including International Development, Investment Banking, Management Consulting and Marketing Management. Our team members have worked in large, medium and small companies. We are a multidisciplinary team with experience in Social Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Housing and Construction, Accounting, Risk Management, Digital Strategy and Creative Writing.
Our combined experience working in developing countries covers India, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, South Sudan and South Africa. We are not only diverse in our work backgrounds? we also come from different parts of the world, representing four continents.

Together we speak eight languages English, Spanish, French, Italian, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and German. Through our personal and professional experience, we understand the challenges and opportunities of the developing world.

We would also like to thank again our director, Prof. Michelle Sisto, and all the MBA team and the school for the support that we have received regarding this important MBA competition."
