STUDY: WHAT IF PREP SCHOOL WAS THE PLACE TO LEARN SELF-CONFIDENCE?

November 14, 2023

Convinced of the importance of education and the positive impact of the younger generation on the world, we are committed to informing the debate on career choices and professional projects through rigorous surveys conducted over more than 10 years on thousands of young students. So, to help answer the question of choosing a preparatory class, we thought it would be useful to interview young preparatory students and ask them the same questions that pupils at the end of their secondary education would ask themselves...
Why did they choose this path? What subjects did they hesitate to choose? What did they really learn in preparatory classes? Were they happy there? Did they continue to pursue an activity outside their studies and what advice do they have for secondary school students on how to succeed in their studies?

Although the audit sector is recruiting, there are many preconceived ideas about its professions which can prevent young graduates from applying for job vacancies. Mazars has teamed up with the EDHEC NewGen Talent Centre to conduct a survey of students and recent graduates with no knowledge or experience of the audit profession, in order to understand better perceptions of the audit profession. At the same time, the study compared their responses with those of young auditors in post. Far from being an epiphenomenon, the societal impact of jobs will have a lasting effect on the employer brand, which must be consistent with the raison d'être and change the content of positions so that they more clearly serve the general interest.

July 2021

The fifth episode of EDHEC Vox Podcast is dedicated to the engagement of young employees in companies today.

It asks the following questions:

  • What are the new aspirations of the younger generation?
  • What meaning do young employees give to their commitment?
  • What do they expect from the company today for their job and beyond?

To answer this question, Quentin Genissel, EDHEC alumnus 2017 and educational manager at Philonomist, talks with Manuelle Malot, Director of Alumni Careers and NewGen Talent Centre at EDHEC and Olivier Parent du Châtelet, partner at BearingPoint, a consulting firm.

While Quentin questions himself as a "representative" of the generations newly entering the job market, Manuelle and Olivier deliver a comprehensive and documented reading on the subject, based on the study conducted jointly by the EDHEC New Gen Talent Centre and BearingPoint.

In this podcast, you'll discover how younger generations define engagement and how companies are embracing the topic. Finally, you'll discover how a company's purpose can improve the engagement dynamics of its younger employees.
