Wednesday 22 September saw students of the Agora association host Elisabeth Moreno, Minister Delegate for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities, both physically on the EDHEC campus and on line on YouTube.
The theme of the conference was “Liberty, Equality, Diversity”.
Elisabeth Moreno has been a Minister since 2020 and formerly held executive positions with France Telecom, Dell and HP. She originates from Cape Verde and obtained an MBA from ESSEC in 2019.
The Minister Delegate replied to students’ questions regarding quotas, positive discrimination and strategy for raising awareness of equality and diversity issues.
‘I’ve known discrimination, suffered from it and know what’s not working properly. (…) It’s terrible to be discriminated against for something you have no choice in’.

The Minister Delegate returned to key figures that remain valid.
‘43% of companies in our country only have between 0 and 1 women among their top 10 earners’.

Students also questioned her on access to information, which is vital for diversifying student populations in schools or staff rosters in companies. The Minister Delegate acknowledged the importance of this point, ‘we need to put all our efforts into this, as it’s vital for the cohesion of our country’.
Agora students tackled a variety of questions with enthusiasm - quotas linked to ethnic origin, harassment, the Ministry’s budget – and Elisabeth Moreno, a high-profile guest, present for the first time on the EDHEC Business School campus, answered them in a highly inspirational manner.
