Early careers starts as seen by young graduates in the new EDHEC NewGen Talent Centre survey

On Tuesday 4 April, the EDHEC NewGen Talent Centre (EDHEC’s centre of expertise on the aspirations, skills and behaviours of new generations) presented a new survey - "Early careers of young graduates of “grandes écoles”: expectations, ambitions and commitments" – on the Paris campus. The report was compiled by the EDHEC NewGen Talent Centre in conjunction with the G16, the body that groups together the careers departments of 16 prestigious grande école business schools and engineering schools  (Arts et Métiers, CentraleSupélec, ESSEC, ENSAE, École Polytechnique, Sciences Po, ESCP, etc.).

The survey presents the different professional aspirations harboured by young generations and particularly underlines that young graduates can be identified in terms of their diverse ambition profiles (38% of respondents classified as engaged, 35% as intra/entrepreneurs and 27% as competitors). The report also specified the main professional objectives of new generations (acquire new skills for personal development and to contribute usefully to society) and their favoured working methods (flexible hours and the possibility to concentrate their working time on four days). Lastly, the survey highlighted the importance for young generations to be trained in societal issues as part of their job, notably through the development of skills directly related to ESG (72% of those surveyed consider this aspect to be a source of engagement).
