How can Digitalization contribute to social innovation?
Along with Professor Loick Menvielle, 94 students of EDHEC International BBA participated to an interactive class last Wednesday 19th September.
This was the kick-off meeting of this semester's workshop, where Antonio Barona, General Director of Vertech Group, and Marta Pérez de Lope, European Officer of Léna Foundation, presented the case study of "Léna Foundation".
The aim of the workshop was to challenge students who attend the course into investigating “How can digitalization contribute to social innovation?” The students worked in collaboration to reinvent and redesign the current linear system of NGOs by addressing its limitations and evaluating how digitalization can provide answers to the current societal demands of "making an impact".
I will use my energy to break the schemes and have a positive impact on my community after my studies", EDHEC BBA International student
The pitches brought innovative new solutions and business cases of what the future of NGOs will look like. They explored concepts like shared governance, financial traceability of donations through block chain technology, removing the middle-men in order to create an all-collaborative community where people can directly help others face-to-face, etc.
The best pitches will be included into Léna Foundation's Business Strategy for next year.
“Students gain a first-hand experience into a real-life case study” says Antonio Barona “and have the opportunity to directly contribute to the creation of the NGOs of the future. Additionally, if we feel that there is a group of students who bring an exceptionally bright idea, we will be open to welcoming them to do an internship in Vertech Group during their studies”.
The case study has three additional coaching sessions until the 5th of December 2018, where the different groups will pitch their final ideas to the General Director of Vertech Group and the European Officer of Léna Foundation.
I am very sensitive to this kind of NGO’s initiatives, which are rare in business schools” says a student. “I come from Egypt and it’s very touching to see that we share the same challenges people face in other parts of the world like Colombia” she says. “I will try to use my energy to break the schemes and have a positive impact on my community after my studies”.
Vertech Group and Léna Foundation are honored and proud to have been selected as this year's business case study since we believe that the students of EDHEC Business School are the key to the digital revolution.
