Why I joined the MSc in Management Studies
WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND PRIOR TO EDHEC?
I studied International Politics and Diplomacy at Texas A&M University.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE EDHEC?
I chose to pursue my master’s degree at EDHEC because of the school’s vast network, impressive Career Centre programme, and reputation across Europe. Also, EDHEC’s willingness to accept Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, was an appealing factor for an American student, such as myself.
HOW HAS BEEN YOUR JOURNEY AT EDHEC?
My journey at EDHEC was unfortunately very short, however, it was an amazing adventure. I was able to work on multiple projects with a variety of groups while simultaneously attaining new skills.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN SKILLS YOU ACQUIRED WITH THE MSC in MANAGEMENT STUDIES AND FEEL WILL BE USEFUL IN YOUR CAREER?
The main skills I acquired while on this journey have been my leadership skills. I took a series of Leadership seminars based on conflict management, adaptability, and teamwork that I cannot wait to implement in the workforce.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?
I am currently looking for an operations related role within the education, government, or healthcare sector.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE ABROAD STUDENTS?
I advise international students to come with some basic French-speaking knowledge and to be prepared to improve it while living here in France. Being able to speak French has been a tremendous advantage and it has allowed me to enjoy my stay here even more. By speaking French, I had an advantage at being selected for the Digital Certificate – a thesis substitute and part of the Master Project.
The second piece of advice is to be prepared to step out of your comfort zone to interact and integrate yourself with peers from different backgrounds, diverse cultures, and varying personalities. Creating relationships and networking will have a great impact on your future and potential opportunities.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY OF EDHEC?
My best memory was seeing my Explora Digital Certificate project come together after 6 months of hard work with four other MSc students. Having the opportunity to find a solution to a corporate problem for the fourth largest employer in France, Boulanger, was a privilege and a challenge. Dedication and hard work paid off in the end.
