ESRB ATC workshop on Stress Testing – POST COVID19
The European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), in cooperation with the Norges Bank, is pleased to invite you to the ESRB ATC WORKSHOP on STRESS TESTING – POST COVID19, to take place in Oslo on 12-13 May 2022.
The European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) was established in 2010 to oversee the financial system of the European Union (EU) and prevent and mitigate systemic risk. The ESRB is responsible for the macroprudential oversight of the EU financial system and the prevention and mitigation of systemic risk. The ESRB therefore has a broad remit, covering banks, insurers, asset managers, shadow banks, financial market infrastructures and other financial institutions and markets. In pursuit of its macroprudential mandate, the ESRB monitors and assesses systemic risks and, where appropriate, issues warnings and recommendations.
On May 12, Irene Monasterolo, Professor of Climate Finance, EDHEC-Risk Institute, EDHEC Business School, will chair a session entitled "Operationalization of climate stress testing frameworks".
Three papers will be presentred during this session:
- "A Micro-Founded Climate Stress Test on the Financial Vulnerability of Italian Households and Firms", by Ivan Faiella, Luciano Lavecchia, Valentina Michelangeli and Alessandro Mistretta (Banca d’Italia)
- "Climate Stress Test" by Hyeyoon Jung, Robert Engle, and Richard Berner (Federal Reserve Bank of New York)
- "Flood Risk and Financial Stability: Evidence from a Stress Test for the Netherlands" by Francesco Caloia and David-Jan Jansen (De Nederlandsche Bank)
On May 13, Irene Monasterolo will participate in a panel session, together with.
- Jacob Gyntelberg, Director of the Economic and Risk Analysis Department, European Banking Authority (EBA)
- Torbjørn Hægland, Executive Director of Financial Stability, Norges Bank
- Moderation: John Fell, Chair of the ESRB Task Force on Stress Testing, ECB
The keynote speech of the workshop will be given on May 13 by Tobias Adrian, Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department, IMF and will cover IMF‘s approach to climate stress testing.
