EDHEC: the first academic partner for the new GARP certificate in Sustainability and Climate Risk
Through its MSc in Climate Change & Sustainable Finance EDHEC Business School is the first in the world to become an academic partner to the Sustainability and Climate Risk certificate by GARP (Global Association of Risk Professional), an international risk management association. MSc students will be able to benefit from this partnership by earning the SCR certificate each year, in addition to their diploma. Three scholarships will be offered annually to help them apply for the examination.
The SCR certificate requires students to show they have the knowledge and skills needed to support corporate sustainability initiatives and anticipate climate change within their organisations. This know-how is in line with the subject matter covered by the MSc in Climate Change & Sustainable Finance, which combines strong financial expertise with an acute understanding of the challenges (scientific and economic) associated with the transition to a low-carbon economy. The MSc includes 60% of the content required by the SCR certificate.
Developed with guidance from senior risk practitioners, climate experts and sustainability professionals, the SCR certificate covers all the major climate change issues: climate change science, climate policy and regulation, sustainability and net zero, climate-driven financial risks, reporting frameworks, and scenario analysis.
“We are proud to be the first official academic partner of the international certificate in Sustainability and Climate Risk, launched recently by GARP, the Global Association of Risk Professionals. The certificate will allow our students to have an even greater influence in the industry by highlighting their expertise in sustainable finance”, said Emmanuel Jurczenko, Director of Graduate Finance Programmes at EDHEC.
