Eiffel Excellence Scholarship: the pride to get such a renowned grant
Sahil Dholakia joined EDHEC Master in Management-Business Management in 2021. He was awarded the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship.
Can you tell us about your background?
I studied Mechanical engineering at Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering in Mumbai. I thought about studying management because I felt that it is not always about making the product. But it is also about how you sell present the product, how you market it? That's why I decided to join EDHEC.
How did you learn about the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship?
The International Admissions team told me that I could be eligible for the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship. I sent all the documents and EDHEC submits the application. I had to write a motivational letter, send information about the certificates and the awards I received during my undergraduate studies.
How did you find out about the results?
I applied in December and got the results on April 28th. You need to be patient!
How does it feel to be chosen among thousands of students?
I felt very lucky and I was so happy. After I saw the result, I was chosen among many candidates. I was so happy to be shortlisted for this scholarship. It is so renowned in Europe beyond France.
My family was happy. It lifted a financial burden for my parents who don't have to send me money every month. The Eiffel Scholarship provides me with enough money for my living.
What is the kind of benefits that you get when you get the Eiffel scholarship?
Firstly, Campus France paid for the visa fees and the CVEC. Secondly, I got a one-way round flight ticket. So I got the first flight ticket from Mumbai to Paris and also the tickets from Paris to Lille. The first three months of my health insurance are paid for. I get a monthly allowance of €1181 which is quite sufficient to cover the cost of living in France.
Why did you choose EDHEC Master in Management?
Mainly because of the course curriculum which covers all the subjects I wanted to study, the possibility to specialize in, the gap year to build my career, and also, of course, the top rankings and the Alumni network.
What are the main highlights so far?
I have never been to Europe before. It is very different from India. It feels nice and peaceful. The campus is very good. We have started studying so many subjects together. It feels nice to learn new things. You talk to so many different people with different mindsets! Get a head start for a successful career.
Did you join an association?
Yes, Namaste EDHEC, a cultural association representing Indian community which will organise events to raise cultural awareness. I’m handling the department of culture and logistics team.
