Frédéric Oudéa, Chief Executive Officer of Société Générale, meets EDHEC students

Written on 31 March 2017.

Société Générale is one of the 3 banks in France’s CAC 40 stock index. The bank’s Chief Executive Officer chose to come and meet all EDHEC students - BBA, Master and MBA - on the Nice campus on Wednesday 29 March. During an hour and a half, he discussed the challenges affecting the banking industry and faced up to a Q&A session with EDHEC students.

“This meeting with EDHEC students was a fine illustration of our long-term partnership. The banking industry’s challenges concern these future managers and their need to understand a constantly-evolving world”, comments Frédéric Oudéa, Chief Executive Officer, Société Générale.

"Société Générale is a longstanding partner of EDHEC and regularly its leading recruiter. We are delighted and honoured to have welcomed Frédéric Oudéa, Chief Executive Officer, to our Nice campus in front of a packed amphitheatre. After one and a half hours of discussions and a Q&A session, Frédéric Oudéa presented the 10 top students with their certificates for the MOOC co-built by EDHEC and Société Générale. All in all, a fine conference particularly appreciated by students!»  Anne Zuccarelli, Associate Dean, Corporate Development & Careers, Director of the European Apprenticeship Track, EDHEC Business School.

"At first it was intimidating, but then Mr Oudéa’s kindness and simplicity ensured the exchanges were very pleasant. I was very honoured to have met my future employer in these conditions”, says Jeanne de Méreuil, EDHEC Business School student.

“ I felt really appreciated and honoured. At the same time it was a great challenge as the amount of necessary knowledge, preparation and flexibility during the interview to switch topics quickly shouldn’t be underestimated. However, being in contact and interviewing an CEO of one of the leading global banks motivates extremely to strive for the excellence. It was really fascinating how detailed and easily he was able to discuss any kind of a topic we came up with.” poursuit  Henrich Ricar, étudiant EDHEC, MSc in Corporate Finance and banking.

EDHEC leveraged its recognised finance expertise and pedagogical know-how to launch this innovative training product with a longstanding partner, Société Générale, a global leader in structured financing and debt capital markets. For Société Générale, this initiative forms part of a broader approach geared to digitalising its training solutions. The course is suited to staff in need of customised training and to students looking to gain practical knowledge anchored in financial industry reality.
