EDHEC Master’s Students Gain Insight into Dublin’s Data and AI Opportunities
EDHEC Master’s students embarked on a two-day trek to Dublin to explore its thriving data and AI scene. Visiting top tech firms and alumni, they gained real-world insights into careers and opportunities in Ireland’s fast-growing tech ecosystem.
In November, a group of EDHEC Master’s students travelled to Dublin for a two-day company trek focused on data, AI and international careers. The trip offered a close look at Ireland’s fast-growing tech ecosystem — and a chance to connect with professionals and EDHEC Alumni shaping the industry from within.
The Dublin Trek, part of the Master in Management – Data Science and AI for Business programme, included visits to LinkedIn, DocuSign, and ServiceNow, as well as meetings at Business France Ireland and Data Cash Solution at the Embassy of France in Ireland.
For, an MSc in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence student, the motivation was clear: “I wanted to gain real-world insights from professionals and EDHEC Alumni who are working in roles I might pursue,” she said. “It was also an opportunity to explore different career paths and better understand the opportunities that exist in Dublin’s tech ecosystem.”
What stood out most to her was the atmosphere of openness and collaboration. “Everyone was so willing to share their experiences and advice,” Shaya recalled. “The environment felt genuinely welcoming.” That community spirit surprised her: “I didn’t expect the networks between companies and professionals to be so connected,” she added. “It made Dublin’s tech scene feel full of potential.”
Throughout the visits, students learned about the skills and attitudes top companies look for in young professionals entering data and AI roles. “Many firms are now actively hiring junior talent because they already have strong senior teams,” Shaya explained. “That creates room for juniors to take ownership, learn quickly and grow into impactful roles.”
The group also met several EDHEC Alumni now working in Dublin, who shared honest perspectives on building international careers. “I’ve always envisioned an international career,” Shaya said, “but seeing EDHEC Alumni thriving in these roles made it feel even more achievable and motivating.”
For Victor Planas-Bielsa, Programme Director of the MiM – Data Science & AI for Business track, these treks are an essential part of the student journey. “They are not only about job-hunting,” he said. “They are valuable networking opportunities and a source of insight into what companies are really looking for in their candidates.”
Beyond the company visits, students also developed soft skills and confidence. “One key takeaway for me was how approachable everyone was,” Shaya reflected. “Networking seemed intimidating before, but now I see it as simply connecting with people who are happy to share.”
By the end of the trek, students left Dublin with new contacts, a clearer picture of their career paths, and a deeper understanding of the tech industry’s collaborative culture. “Speaking directly with professionals helped me feel more confident about reaching out, asking questions, and exploring opportunities,” Shaya said.
The Dublin Trek is one of many international experiences offered at EDHEC that link classroom learning with the realities of global business. As Shaya summed up, “I’d highly recommend it to other students — it’s a great way to understand how companies work, explore career paths up close, and build connections that will help in the long term.”
