WHAT WAS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND PRIOR TO ATTENDING EDHEC?
I started my education with a scientific post-secondary prep school at Lycée Faidherbe, in Lille, to enter an engineering school. After two years, I joined Arts et Métiers, a French engineering school specialised in industry and mechanical engineering. During this curriculum and my internship, I learned about product development, from the conception to the production.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE EDHEC?
I was looking for a Master of Science in Marketing to learn more about marketing and the connection between the companies and their customers. This MSc answered all my expectations and was offered in one of the top Business Schools in France. Studying at EDHEC was an opportunity to be recognised and to benefit from the strong Alumni network. The integration at EDHEC was very easy: everything is made to help all the newcomers. In the MSc, all students have all different educational backgrounds, different areas of expertise which provide a great diversity, because we each have a specific way to tackle a complex issue. One of the strengths of this programme is to bring together people from different horizons to focus on the same project, each one with his or her own technique. The curriculum is very complete, and offers an exhaustive overview and a deep analysis on the main marketing tools and objectives.
WHAT WERE YOUR EXPECTATIONS TOWARDS EDHEC? WERE THEY MET?
Thanks to my EDHEC education, I have acquired a dual competence in engineering and marketing. After almost a year studying at EDHEC, I have gained a deep understanding of all topics in marketing, and I have learned to use numerous tools to better perceive the customers’ needs. This curriculum at EDHEC is also very concrete, with numerous projects with international companies like Groupe SEB or Ubisoft, offering a valuable professional experience in this domain. Having this opportunity to see the global picture is both fulfilling for me and valuable in the recruitment process.
YOU HAVE BEEN RECRUITED AT SEB. WHAT WILL YOUR JOB BE?
I have been hired by Tefal, Groupe SEB’s affiliated company, to work as Junior Product Manager on Kitchen Utensils. I will develop new ranges of products and work on existing ones to offer the best cooking solution for the customers.
I think that the dual competence in engineering and marketing really sets me apart for this kind of position, as it offers a global vision on the process and on all the stakeholders involved. Hence, when these skills have been acquired in two prestigious schools: Arts et Métiers and EDHEC. Both trainings are complementary: at Arts et Métiers, I learned how to answer to the customers’ needs with the best technical solution, and how to industrialise this product. At EDHEC, I learned how to understand the customers and their needs. Thanks to this double diploma, I now have a 360° vision on the whole process.
HAD YOU WORKED ON SEB CASE STUDIES WHILE AT EDHEC?
For the Strategic Brand Management class, we had the opportunity to work on a project with Groupe SEB. We were asked to find a product innovation for the linen care range for Groupe SEB. After a complete marketing study to better understand the areas of frustration for the customers, we came up with a concrete solution to better adapt the product to the current CSR stakes.
This project provided us with the opportunity to work on a concrete project in a professional environment and to create some contact within the company.
HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP YOUR EXPERIENCE AT EDHEC?
I find my EDHEC education very complete and concrete, as I was able to learn about all main aspects of marketing thanks to inspiring lectures and hands-on projects.
