What was your academic background before joining EDHEC?

My first master's was in International Relations and Diplomacy. At the undergraduate level, I studied journalism and communication with a double major in French.

Can you briefly talk about why you chose to join EDHEC and choose the master’s programme you are currently studying?

I chose EDHEC because it is one of the top five business schools in France.

According to my personal work experience, I believe that data analysis is the future trend of industry, and I am very interested in the field of marketing, so the new major that EDHEC opened this year - Master of Science in Marketing Analysis - just meets all my needs. When applying, I chose this major without hesitation.

How did you learn about the EDHEC Future Chinese Alumni Impact Scholarship?

When I applied, I learned about this scholarship through the information on the official website.

Is the process of applying for this scholarship complicated?

I think the application process is very smooth. After my admission to EDHEC, I started to apply for this scholarship. In preparation, I wrote a motivational letter - explaining my past experiences in student associations, my extracurricular activities, as well as my understanding of the big family of "Alumni Association". After submitting the application materials, I conducted a video interview. In the end, I am very honored to receive this scholarship.

What is the teaching method and content of your master's programme?

I think the teaching of our MSc programme is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practicality.

We have courses in psychology, market models, research methods, programming, data visualisation, and more. These courses not only cover the data analysis software that must be mastered in the field of marketing, enhancing our technical competitiveness; but also show us the way of thinking and enhance our soft skills. I think the curriculum is very comprehensive.

At the same time, our courses are divided into classroom teaching, group projects, and even consulting proposals in cooperation with industry partners.

Have you met students from different countries through classroom interaction and other activities?

Yes, I have. The composition of our class is diverse, from France, Italy, India, Peru and other countries. We enjoy sharing and exchanging knowledge and culture.

Do you feel comfortable living and studying in France?

Actually, I had been living in France for a while - 5 years ago I did a one-year exchange programme at the University of Marseille, and last year I did a study programme at Sciences Po in Paris. I have made many French friends and also have some understanding of French culture.

I can fully understand the complicated administrative procedures in France, such as housing, medical insurance, and visas... So I will encourage those who have just arrived in France to be patient - it will eventually be all right.

I personally like and enjoy life in France very much. I think here you can always be yourself, always explore and discover, as much as you want.

What advice do you have for students who want to apply to your programme?

I highly recommend students who have a marketing background and wish to enrich their data analysis skills to apply for my programme. Our curriculum is comprehensive and each type of data analysis skill is brought to test in real market scenarios.

For students without data foundation, you don’t have to worry, the school will offer three courses in the summer vacation, including R and statistics, to prepare for the study after the semester starts.
