VIRGINIE PLED, FRENCH, EDHEC-2012
FINANCE
ASSISTANT CONTROLLER-GLOBAL OPERATIONS AT NEXTIVA-PHOENIX
I chose the Master in Management Financial Economics as I wanted to graduate with a double degree and be attractive to international companies. I also wanted an overview of the different business careers, for which EDHEC offers specialised programmes right after the profession immersion year.
Year 1 gave me a good foundation of the different paths available to me before consolidating my skills in a specific field in year 2. I did my entire profession immersion year in the United States, and the Career Center assisted me when I needed help to fill certain application forms and to practice for my interviews.
I chose the MSC in International Accounting & Finance after a 6-month internship at KPMG where I realised this was the career I was looking for. The programme included courses focusing on audit procedures and cost accounting, which is heavily tested to obtain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. I also wanted a programme entirely taught in English to get familiar with technical terms, which I use every day in my work.
I was a member of the Raid EDHEC Association and successfully supervised the second largest event organised by the association.
