The agreement signed between Olivier Oger, Dean of EDHEC Business School, and Jean-André Laffitte, Auchan’s Director of Human Resources, extends the partnership which originally began in 2004. Since then Auchan and the Chair have developed a long standing relationship which has enabled them to develop, for example, seminars for students delivered by EDHEC faculty with Auchan managers, as well as training programmes on leadership for Auchan executives.
The financial support and involvement of the Chair’s partners – Auchan, Redcats, Sage and La Poste - have given the Chair the backing needed to bring its projects to completion.
The Chair’s mission is to foster leadership capability by preparing students for managerial responsibility and by accompanying managers in developing their personal and professional managerial skills. It is the first teaching chair in France to maintain that leadership can be learnt, even from the start of management training! This is achieved by offering students access to a range of courses and seminars, all of which have been designed according to the Chair's credo - Educating a Reflective Manager - and which give students the opportunity to engage actively in enhancing their own leadership potential.
Beyond its teaching role, the Chair asserts its expertise to companies around four themes: the management of Generation Y (the Millenials or the Next Generation-), inductive pedagogy for management and leadership education, collaborative management and followership. The Chair is constantly experimenting new methods, generated by its close interaction with companies, for accompanying and developing leadership.
