The lawyers Dupond-Moretti and Thierry Herzog at EDHEC on 25 March

Written on 26 March 2013.

These two figures are among the twenty or so most prominent lawyers working in France. Legendary and influential lawyers, these men in black take on big cases and important clients. The Clearstream Affair, the Outreau trial, the Karabatic brothers, Merah, and many others have spurred on the chevalier of the Legion of Honour and so-called Acquittador. Thierry Herzog is the lawyer for the former head of state Nicolas Sarkozy and is considered his judicial alter ego. As prominent in the media as he is mysterious, Éric Dupond-Moretti, for his part, fulminates against the total absence of a culture of doubt in France, and his book Bête noire he attacks the French legal system. Both very quickly became known for their gifts for public speaking, and it was with them that the state of justice in France was debated. This interactive talk gave all those in attendance the chance to ask questions of the day’s speakers.
