In February 2019, The Curve Triangle & Rectangle Institute (CTRI) invited Lionel Martellini, Professor of Finance at EDHEC Business School and Director of EDHEC-Risk Institute to join its Academic Advisor Board.

The Curve, Triangle, & Rectangle is a not-for-profit, membership association focused on the validation of retirement research. CTRI provides members with otherwise unseen insights for retirement planning best practices or new ventures.

CTRI, a Fintech Laboratory, develops human and AI (Artificial Intelligence) learners that seek high-entropy, "Shannon" information in financial research to turn otherwise unseen insights into retirement planning best practices or new ventures. CTRI translates research into action by curating an archive of key papers, extracting features from the papers into a meta-database, extending the meta-database with a Wiki for review by authors, peers, and members, for analysis by human and AI learners seeking to discover unseen and deeper connection across academic and industry silos.

Members of the Academic Advisory Board guide the development of the archive to keep it focused on the best quality, cross-silo selection of academic papers. Current members of CTRI's Academic Advisory Board include Professors Terence Burnham, Tim Garrett, Laurence Kotlikoff, Lionel Martellini, and Michael Zwecher.

Professor Lionel Martellini, is Director of EDHEC-Risk Institute. He conducts research in a broad range of topics related to investment solutions for individual and institutional investors, equity and fixed-income portfolio construction, risk management and derivatives valuation. He was previously on the faculty of the University of Southern California and has held a visiting position at Princeton University. He sits on the editorial boards of various journals, including the Journal of Alternative Investments and the Journal of Portfolio Management. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. Outside of his activities in finance, he recently completed a PhD in Relativistic Astrophysics (University Côte d’Azur) and has become a member of the LIGO/Virgo international collaboration for the observation of gravitational waves.
